Greg McNeill is hailed as Australia's best contemporary motor racing artist. He began his career in 1985 at the age of 20.
"I've been drawing for as long as I can remember" he says. Art was his best school subject and this enabled him to enrol at the School of Visual Art in Sydney, where he specialised in sport and mechanical illustration. "I have always been interested in motorsport and when given a brief to draw a car I discovered this was the best way to express myself in art" Greg says, "I didn't know anything about historic cars but I liked their shapes and I spent many hours experimenting".
Still based in Sydney, his work for private and commercial clients includes book and magazine covers, race posters, advertising material, collector's plates, prints and of course, original paintings.
His vibrant works depict all forms of motorsport past and present. Historic Car Art have selected a range of Greg's Pop Art pieces.
"I like the pop art style and I have always liked the Benday Dots made famous by Roy Lichtenstein. I like to use them in my pop art work." Says Greg.
