A Bugatti in Paris

Original Painting

Original Painting. Bugatti entered a team of four 8 cylinder Type 30's for the French Grand Prix at Strasbourg in 1922. Clothed in an aerodynamic body, the new Bugatti quickly earned the nickname 'Le Cigar'. It was a successful debut, from 18 starters only 4 cars finished the race - 3 of them Bugatti's finishing second, third and fourth behind the winning Fiat. The second placed car (No.12) was driven by Pierre De Vizcaya and is pictured here outside a showroom on the Champs-Elysees.
