Lando Norris scored his maiden podium in 2019 when he finished third in the Austrian Grand Prix, becoming the third-youngest driver to achieve a podium finish. Lando pushed hard on the final lap of the race to claim the fastest lap of the race, which was enough to edge out Lewis Hamilton who'd collected a five second penalty for contact with Alex Albon earlier in the race. Further strong points finishes, including two fourth places made this a breakthrough year for Lando, and a strong partnership with Carlos Sainz earned McLaren third in the constructors' table. This was the best result for the McLaren team since 2012.
