Porsche | 956-117 | NewMan | Art Print | Poster

£45.00

Art print of the double Le Mans winning Porsche 956 chassis 117, the NewMan car.

One of the very last Porsche 956s built, this example was sold new to Joest Racing. The car was first entered in the 1984 24 Hours of Le Mans where Henri Pescarolo and Klaus Ludwig upheld Porsche's honours by winning the race outright in the absence of the factory team. Jochen Mass, Henri Pescarolo and 'John Winter' subsequently scored Interserie and DRM victories in Blaupunkt colours. For the 1985 Le Mans, it was back in the NewMan colours, but this time Ludwig was joined by Paolo Barilla and 'John Winter'. Despite being faced with Porsche's brand new 962Cs, 956-117 again proved victorious, making it one of just a handful of back-to-back winning Le Mans winning cars.

GRUPPE SEE

Gruppe See developed when Max Newman started a Porsche focused art passion project during the first lockdown of 2020. Along with graphic designer friend Hugh Tarpy the pair launched a collection of work that is a combination of fine art photography and graphic art, with focus on Porsche and the Group C, along with the IROC series.

The work has been very well received and is now published by Historic Car Art. Gruppe See will be adding new work to their portfolio regularly.
