A Famous Victory | Richard Seaman | Mercedes | Grand Prix 1938 | Painting

£2,750.00

Original art depicting Richard (Dick) Seaman as he wins the 1938 German Grand Prix for Mercedes-Benz driving the W154. This painting by Paul Dove portrays the drama and emotion of the famous Grand Prix win.

It had been fifteen years since a British driver had won a full-scale Grand Prix race. Richard Seaman, with a Mercedes-Benz, defeated the cream of Europe's drivers to take the laurels in the German Grand Prix on July 24th at the Nürburgring.
Seaman, famous for his steady, unruffled driving style averaged 80.61 mph for the 22 laps (311.6 miles) of the race and also put in fastest lap at 83.71 mph to take victory.
The sister Mercedes-Benz of Rudolf Caracciola finished second with the Auto Union of Hans Stuck completing the all German manufacturer podium.
