Our Tazio Nuvolari Art Collection celebrates the drives of this acclaimed racing driver with limited edition prints and original paintings from top motoring artists. Rare original race posters often feature in our collections as we source them for enthusiasts, investors and collectors . Italian Tazio Nuvolari was born in 1892 and was hailed as the greatest madman ever to drive in the pre-war era! His career started on two wheels in 1920 and he won the 350cc European Championship in 1925. Spotted by the Alfa Romeo team he raced in his first Grand Prix in 1925 but was badly injured and defied doctors orders to rest, competing fully bandaged in further motorcycle races before breaking into car racing and specifically Grand Prix racing with Alfa Romeo and Enzo Ferrari's privateer team in the 1930s. His brazen audacious antics won him admirers and bitter rivals in Achille Varzi especially after he drove without headlights to win the 1930 Mille Miglia overtaking Varzi to take the lead towards the end of the race! He is renowned for his winning performance in the Auto Union at the British Grand Prix at Donington in 1938. He died in 1953 after suffering a stroke aged 60.
