The German dominance in Grand Prix racing had reached its climax by 1938. The cars from Mercedes and Auto Union were in a class of their own in performance, team management and limitless funding by the government. Nothing was to stand in the way of success.
Such was the edge the teams had on their competitors, Rodney Walkerley wrote in his book....
“Far away in the distance we heard an angry, deep - throated roaring – as someone once remarked, like hungry lions impatient for the arena. A few moments later, Manfred von Brauchitsch, red helmeted, brought a great, silver projectile snaking down the hill, and close behind, his team mate Rudolf Caracciola, then at the height of his great career. The two cars took the hairpin, von Brauchitsch almost sideways, and rocketed away out of sight with long plumes of rubber smoke trailing from their huge rear tyres, in a deafening crash
of sound.
The startled Pressmen gazed at each other, awe-struck.
"Strewth," gasped one of them, "so that's what they're
like!"
That was what they were like.”

Neil Collins watercolour artist works from old photographs and likes to research period colours to ensure that details are correct. Neil’s first national exhibition was at the RAC Art of Motoring in 2016 where his water colours found a ready market. Since then he has developed both his style and his client base. The clean lines of Neil’s pictures reflect a lifetime in design disciplines. The translucent and free flowing qualities of water colour give an immediacy to Neil’s work.
“I get an enormous amount of pleasure from researching and planning my paintings. Old photographs are fascinating, and I love to translate old black-and-white photographs into colour with my artwork. Every photograph has a narrative – sometimes obvious, sometimes hidden. I like to have this in my paintings".

Do you ship Worldwide?
We ship Internationally using UPS, DHL, FedEx or a Royal Mail tracked services. This means that your order is fully tracked until it arrives at it's destination. We will email you a tracking number on dispatch then your order will just take a few days to arrive anywhere in the World. DHL Express typically 1-2 days and Royal Mail 5-7 days under normal circumstances.
If I'm ordering from overseas, do I need to pay import duty?
We accurately describe our goods so that your order passes smoothly through customs and any unnecessary delays are minimised. Any import duties and taxes are the responsibility of the receiver.
