The Art of Motoring Exhibition supported by the Royal Automobile Club is an event running from 31st October to 5th November in the heart of London, close to the Royal Automobile Club’s Pall Mall Clubhouse. The exhibition curated by Rupert Whyte of Historic Car Art and Andrew Marriott of Pit Lane Productions is now in it’s third year and for 2017 it will be Europe’s largest curated exhibition of motoring and motor racing art.
The exhibition has moved venues for 2017 to the prestigious Mall Galleries, SW1. On show will artworks from 24 artists. All work will be available to purchase from the exhibition with much available online here too, during and the weeks after, the show.
Exhibition stalwarts John Ketchell, Tim Layzell, Roy Putt and Geoff Bolam with be joined by many other British artists and for the first time artists from Europe and beyond.
Russian artist and designer Ilya Avakov will be showing outside of his home country for the first time, his work having recently discovered by Historic Car Art and shipped over to the UK. Four sculptors, Gary Smith, Esteban Serassio, Tim Potts and Robin Bark will exhibition their solid bronze and aluminium castings.
Although most artists lean towards classic and historic cars for their artworks others, in particular Nick Roe, focus on the cutting edge of modern Formula 1. Roe’s work on the vortices formed in the Williams F1 wind tunnel is part print, part sculptural and uses modern materials such as carbon fibre.
Other exciting additions for 2017 are top selling artist Frederic Dams, Paul Dove, Jan Yanou and Ella Freire all of whom have very different and contrasting styles that will compliment the exhibition perfectly. 2017 is sure to be the best event so far.
